The Space Between

A Dark Supernatural Roleplay Experience in Second Life

Avatar Guidelines

Below are general guidelines for Avatar Appearance. Avatar Guidelines apply to everyone, Roleplayers and Staff alike

Characters from any time, world or reality may exist in The Space Between, though we still have some basic restrictions on content which is not yours, requirements to keep lag down, and Linden Lab’s Community Guidelines

Examples of Acceptable Avatars

Child Avatars and Characters are prohibited on sim. All characters must be adults.

⫸ Factors in having a Child Appearance are a variety of things, not simply being extremely short.

⫸ Trying to enter the sim with a child avatar on the banned list will result in inability to access the sim.

⫸ Anyone found bypassing this in any way will be immediately blacklisted from returning to the sim

Child NPCs are not allowed on sim — this includes mesh/prim babies or children.

This is not a complete list, and is subject to future additions.

  • Blacklisted Avatars
    • Zooby
    • {Bebe}
    • Loki Avatars
    • SIMulation Baby
    • ToddleeDoo
    • Tweenster
    • REBIRTH - Teen or Kid
  • Very Small or Petite-Sized Avatars are allowed freely on-sim.

All petite or very small Avatars must be mesh.

    • If you're using a very small avatar, consider taking the Character Quirks Size: Small or Size: Tiny!

Very Large or Macro-sized avatars are allowed, with conditions:

All Large or Macro-sized Avatars must be either on the approved list or greenlit by a member of staff.

Restrictions are based primarily upon scripts and lag.

    • Upper size range is appx 7 meters.
    • If you're using a very large avatar, consider taking the Character Quirks Size: Large or Size: Huge!

Here is a list of currently accepted large avatars.

Reach out to Staff concerning an avatar you might be using which is not on this list:

  • Accepted Large Avatars
    • TWI - Fox, Deer, Wolf (all sizes)
    • BRDMRT - Griffin, Eagle, Bear (all sizes)
    • JOMO - Quadruped Dragon, Bipedal Dragon, Werewolf, Daenotaur (all sizes)
    • I Monster - European, Eastern (all sizes)
    • Dreamcrawler - Genapop (all sizes) & Feral Dragon (6)
    • Grendel - Avarian (2.0)
    • Dawn Kingdom’s (sub-adult)
    • Psicorp - Core Nova (macro x2)
    • Super Noodle (all sizes)
    • Static - River Dragon (large)
    • KzK - Direwolf (large)
  • All clothing is allowed, with considerations:

⫸ Clothing is not usually a factor in whether an avatar’s appearance is acceptable or not. Because of the nature of the world, clothing may vary heavily from character to character. Keep in mind, however, that the items a character has access to will over time be limited to only ‘lost’ objects which are found in The Space Between or what their Kith may be able to supply.

    Examples of Kith-Supplied Clothing

  • The Veil

The Veil may have a more ostentatious appearance, draped in finery and garish masks — or shackled, wearing revealing clothing with the guise of servitude. Those of higher tier appear ostentatious though distinctly inhuman.

  • The Hive

The Hive could dawn a more wild and naturally-themed array of clothing made of makeshift bits of trees or scavenged items used in a very wrong way!

  • The Covenant

The Covenant has easier access to ritual robes…as well as clothing made of living flesh formed by the tailors up in the moon.

  • The Seeming

The Seeming can be seen in reconstructed ‘modern’ clothing (circa 1980/1990 max usually) — looking like an out of time mall rat or wearing clothing that seems to be somewhat misremembered and ‘close’ to what it should appear as but ever so off.

  • A Member of No Kith

A member of no kith (especially those of a lower tier) will likely only have access to the mismatch of lost things they can scavenge around or trade from others. These are usually old, somewhat ruined and used giving an appearance of falling into a pile of reject donations at a time traveler's thrift-store!

  • Mechanically-reliant characters are allowed, with considerations:

⫸ Mechanically heavy, robotic or cybernetic characters are allowed, but these characters should consider taking the Character Quirk Mechanically Reliant. Machinery and most advanced technology has a habit of breaking down or simply not working the longer it remains in The Space Between. Anyone stuck who is reliant on some form of technology will be at a disadvantage.

Cartoon or Chibi avatars aren’t allowed. Please make sure your character looks like an adult!

Alongside our restriction on child characters, chibi avatars are likewise banned on sim.

This is not a complete list, and is subject to future additions.

  • Examples of Chibi Avatars
    • Puchimon
    • *NAM*
    • Animini
  • Other Restrictions

⫸ Any restrictions for Anthro/Furry or Feral avatars are the exact same as any other type of avatar. Both are welcome so long as the characters are an adult of their species!

Avatars should never exceed 6000 KB script memory or 100 script count.

Avatar complexity should never exceed 150k complexity.

    Violations Of These Guidelines

⫸ If Staff asks you to change your avatar, be respectful.

Please contact a staff member for avatar approval or ask in the discord if you have questions about your personal avatar being allowed on sim.
